Team Atlas Snowshoes/Rubicon is sponsored by Atlas Snowshoes. This is the only team consisting of three female and one male competitor. This is one of the most experienced Expedition Racing teams in the field with a combined 11 Eco-Challenge appearances. Captain Rebecca Rusch hopes that a strong showing in Argentina by Team Rubicon will prompt greater female interest and involvement in the sport of Expedition Racing. Team member Cathy Sassin is one of the most highly-regarded adventure racers in the world, and has finished in the top six in all three of her Eco-Challenge appearances. Robyn Benincasa finished in 1st place in the 1998 Raid Gauloises in Ecuador. The three female racers are joined by Ian Adamson who has completed the Discovery Channel Eco-Challenge three times: placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
