Seven Climbers Summit Sunday, June 4, 2000
Hello Mountain Zone, this is Tom Bridge again. We're up at 17,200 feet and we're getting organized for our descent here, so this is going to be a short call. We had a real long day yesterday. I tried calling you on the way down a couple of times but I had trouble connecting. So, we did get to the summit yesterday with seven people total. We had one climber voluntarily turn around at the pass, Denali Pass, about one-third of the way up the climb. And Matt Szundy our, kind of, assistant guide brought him down yesterday. So, we had a beautiful view up top. A little bit of wind, about 25mph, and not too cold, maybe about minus five or so. So it was real pleasant for Denali. And you can see out on the tundra right now, today, and most of the Alaska Range here. You can probably hear that I'm still out of breath from the climb and we had a pretty long day, about a 15-hour day. So we're looking forward to getting down to some higher oxygen pressure down at 11,000 feet where we'll then continue on our way, trying to get out sometime late tomorrow. We'll talk to you sometime in town and we'll be handing off the phone here fairly soon to our next team, which I believe is coming up to 14 today or at least making the carry. So, we'll talk to you later. Enjoy, bye-bye.
