View from a Precipice Sunday, June 25, 2000
Greetings, this is Bill McCormick with the Alpine Ascents International trip number six. I'm calling from High Camp at 17,000 feet. We just had dinner, actually Tony was going to come out and say a few words, but I'm literally on the edge of a precipice looking down 2,000 feet, at the camp at 14,000, and he'd already taken his crampons off. But, tomorrow night you'll be hearing from Tony. Everybody's pretty knackered; it's quite a hall up here, probably took nine hours. Get a good night sleep and have a rest day tomorrow; see how everybody's feeling. Fortunately, the forecast seems pretty good, but, as we know up here, the forecasts tend to be not all that reliable. So we'll cross our fingers and we'll give a call tomorrow and this will be Alpine Ascents trip six out.
