Yeah hi, it's Ed Viesturs reporting. We're at the village of Ghasa and it's the end of the day on April 3rd. Were at about 6000 feet — another nice five-and-a-half-hour walk today, up the Kali Gandaki river valley. Once again very hot, very dusty coming up here, but we managed to get here at about 1:30 in the afternoon so we beat most of the heat.

The lodges here are very, very nice. They're clean, running water, electricity, gas stove, accommodations are good. Tomorrow we'll hike up to Lete, which is only about two hours up the valley. Going to be a very short day and then after that we leave the main Annapurna circuit trail and head off toward Annapurna for the next three or four days where we'll be in the boonies more or less and we won't be in lodges and we'll be camping and moving as an expedition.

So, things are going well. We had another nice long, hard hike today and we're well on our way towards base camp. Not much else to report, as I said things are going well. Weather's good. We had a little afternoon thunderstorm, which just went by, but for the most part the weather has been very clear, very nice and at these altitudes of under 6000 feet it's been very, very hot during the day. So that's it for now. I'll talk again tomorrow night. This is Ed Viesturs signing out.
