As three expedition members and one porter planned to spend the night establishing advanced base camp at the foot of K2, the other members continued their work ferrying loads and stayed at an intermediate camp at about 15,000 feet.

Climbers Jeff Alzner, Ziggy Emme, Jay Sieger and the porter/cook known as "Jan" were headed to ABC to spend the night.

Spending the day carrying loads up to ABC and then planning to return to intermediate camp tonight were: Mike Bearzi, Fred Ziel, Paul Teare, Gill James, Ivan Ramirez, Heidi Howkins, Drew Hansen, Wayne Wallace, Jeff Rhoads and Greg Ritchie.

Ginger Russell, John Heilprin, Shawn O'Fallon and Jennifer Jordan took a day off, tanning and doing laundry, washing hair in the icy stream and enjoying the clear-blue views of K2 towering above the glacial moraine on which the Camp 1s located. There also was some discussion of a lavish lunch to include Bailey's Irish Cream and M&Ms.

Jordan was "humbled" by her first carry up to ABC the day before, while Russell and Heilprin felt strong and heathy, but were kicking back, after a long day carrying up huge loads to move up from the dusty camel dump. O'Fallon was recovering after getting a cortisone injection to relieve pain in his right knee, which began hurting five days ago. Sunscreen is a must as the team enjoys a cloudless and temperate spate of perfect weather that has continued for nearly a week.
