TIBET TIME:

Energy and Determination

Kris
Erickson

Several days have past since the last time I was able to get a message out to those of you following the Shish adventure. I was feeling poorly and felt the need to descend into Nyalam to work back a better acclimatization program than the one I subscribed to on the first trip.

Upon my descent to Nyalam, I met up with Alex and Andrew who were planning their trips back to Base Camp. Andrew was looking for a slower pace than Der Feen (Alex), so it would work out great for Andrew and I to partner up and take the slow trek back up, while the Feen could blast it out in a day.

I arrived this morning after an almost stellar bivi in the rain, which Andrew and myself felt could have been much more enjoyable had we thought to bring a tent. Nevertheless, Andrew should arrive tomorrow and the payer flags will be lifted in camp as soon as everyone is present. As I write, the rest of the team is off pushing a load to ABC. My initial feelings of falling behind have since been replaced with energy and determination to accomplish the project we've all traveled so far to work towards. With a shave from the Lawn Mower, laundry done and, most importantly, the first shower I've had since leaving Kathmandu, my spirts have been lifted and the energy of the group will be at full power when Andrew rolls into camp tomorrow.

Stay tuned.
