Mountain Zoners, this is Dave Mencin again. It is 11:25 here in Nepal PM, and our three climbers, Eric, Greg and Charles are on their way to the summit; they have left the South Col. Here is a conversation I just had with Wally, he is talking from the South Col, so it will be garbled and I don't think it will come through but it does describe the weather conditions at the current time.

[Wally Berg over the radio:]
Yeah Dave, I copy, over. OK, as you probably heard, Eric is describing a wind, by that I should emphasize, a breeze blowing on top... Here at camp III, it's extremely still, very clear night, beautiful night, a very warm night, seems like definitely mild weather starting up... Roger that, we do have clear skies... So, that's the weather report. I'll have to say that I'm really thrilled to get an early start... Still don't know what kind of snow depth or snow conditions they're going to find on the ascent... but you know, that'll be known within hours...
