[GO BACK]

This suspension bridge outside of Phakding over the Dudh Khosi river is one of many encountered on the trek to be used by locals, climbers, porters and yaks. The crossing is a "character building experience," says Charles Corfield. "The older ones have wooden planks in various states of repair, and the occasional rock placed over a large hole. These bridges are now being replaced by steel models from the Swiss Development Corporation."
