[GO BACK]

A stupa, possibly hundreds of years old, overlooks the village of Dingboche at 14,000'. Stupas and chortens are made up of symbolic, proportional elements. The four faces of the rectangular lower are painted with the all-seeing eyes of Buddha and what looks like the nose, is the sanskrit sign for the number one. This symbolizes the absoluteness of Buddha.
