While we were at Khunde we stopped by the clinic, which is staffed by a combination of western and nepali personnel. The clinic is a major success story of health care in rural Nepal. This year the resident docs are Jim Litch and his fiancee Rachel. Jim climbed on the north side of Everest in 1995 and came up to basecamp on the south side after the 1996 tragedy. —Charles Corfield (Tuesday, March 30, 1999)
