DISPATCHES FROM EVEREST
Team Scientist, Freddy Blume, reports from Everest

Blume
Icelanders Planning Another Attempt
Tuesday, May 20, 1997 -- 12:30pm PST

The Iceboys are at it again! The same team will be headed up in the next hour or two from the Col. They report moderate winds and VERY cold (perfect climbing weather for Icelanders,

Hardar Magnusson and Jon Vilgensson in base get news via radio from their Icelandic teammates on the South Col
but the Brits will have to walk in their lee shadows.) No clouds above tonight affording them a brilliant moon.

It is quite still at base tonight, partly cloudy with some radiative fog forming down low, but not too cold. Avalanches thundering down all over the place...
