 Camp II, 21,500'
|
Five-Day Weather Forecast Monday, May 5, 1997
Teams who believe they are sufficiently acclimated to attempt a summit climb, move up to Camp II (21,500') at the end of the Western Cwm and the foot of the Lhotse Face. Still three days away from the top, they wait for a clear weather forecast to launch their summit bid. Several teams are now poised on the mountain waiting for such a forecast. Just received in Base Camp, this report indicates that May 8th promises the calmest weather up high, so we can expect to see many teams moving for the summit then.
