Enjoying the Thick Air at 14,700'

Ama Dablam
From Burleson's Satellite Call:
Hi this is Todd. I'm in Pheriche at 14,700 feet. A gorgeous morning; I can look up at Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kangtega, Cho-Oyu, and Lobuche... beautiful peaks everywhere.

Wally, Charles, and I are down here resting for a few days getting our lungs cleared out. We all feel really good, and the air is extremely thick down here -- you almost feel like you're swimming in it. We'll stay down here for two more night and head back up and be ready for summit. Things are extremely good here. We are happy and eating a lot and enjoying ourselves.

When you reach this low altitude, you start getting into the tundra again. And there's probably 100 yaks grazing out in front of us here. And the temperature feels like it's 75 degrees and beautiful!

That's it from The Mountain Zone, and I'll talk to you soon. Bye.

-- Todd Burleson, Expedition Leader
