After an all night media vigil, hanging out in Berber tents, Team Vail crossed the finish line at 6:43am — six days after the start of this expedition.

All members of the team looked exhausted but suprisingly strong after completing the 180km mountain biking leg. With two world class cyclists in the team they were always considered a strong threat over this leg.

"Team Vail was actually in 28th place after the Camel leg on day one and consistently increased their standing each day..."

The four team members, captain William Mattison, Sara Ballantyne (click for pre-race interview), Michael Klosser and Andreas Boesel, all Colorado residents, maintained a strong pace throughout the race.

Team Vail was actually in 28th place after the Camel leg on day one and consistently increased their standing each day.

It was not until late last night that word got out they had passed Spanish Team Cepos who seemed sure winners over the last few days.

Stay tuned for updates as teams cross the finish line.
