Day 1
Many Glacier Campground to Elizabeth Lake Head via Ptarmigan Tunnel (11.7 miles)

Leery of the great Grizzly and its ominous reputation, we set out for six days in the backcountry of Glacier National Park. Almost instantly the surrounding environment captured every ounce of our attention. We were transfixed by the glacially etched sandstone spires erupting from the teal blue lakes below. Emerald green mountainsides, open meadows adorned with fragile alpine flowers and waterfalls streaming from invisible spigots. . .

We'd arrived.
