Listen to The Mountain Zone's exclusive pre-Olympic interview with Picabo Street
Photogenic charisma and brutal speed (not to mention an unforgettable name) have made Street one of the best known of the superstar skiers. Possessing a magnitude of fame matched only by Alberto Tomba, Street's talent on the course has generated new excitement for US skiing. In the '94-'95 season, she became the first American skier to win a Downhill World Cup, and she has dominated women's skiing ever since.

A violent knee injury kept her out of competition during the '96-'97 season, but the 1996 World and World Cup Downhill Champion took the time to heal. We know Olympic fans eagerly await the dramatic comeback of America's darling and expect it to be a highlight of the Winter Games.

Picabo Street Street has nine World Cup wins behind her and two Women's Downhill Championships. With an instinct for speed, Street has been training with the US women's team in La Parva, Chile, and promises to be a strong contender for the podium (the middle spot) in Nagano.
