Pernilla Wiberg Pernilla Wiberg (SWE)
Birthday: 10/15/70
Birthplace: Norrköping (Sweden)
Home Base: Monte Carlo
Sponsors: Rossignol, Lange, Marker

Last year, Overall Champ Pernilla Wiberg had her best season yet. She placed in the top five for each of the discipline standings.

It's easy to figure out why Pernilla is one of Sweden's faves. With two Olympic medals, 22 World Cup victories, three World Cup discipline titles, and four World Championship medals, it's also easy to figure out why she has two online fanclubs.

Wiberg will be one to watch for gold medals in Nagano. She is recuperating from a torn ligament (no surgery necessary) suffered while training on the Austrian glacier of Soelden in October and missed the first World Cup in Tignes, France.

Wiberg recently placed in the top-10 downhill and top-20 giant slalom contenders in Cortina d'Ampezzo, though she is not currently high up in overall World Cup standings. In Are, Sweden, the last women's World Cup prior to the games in Nagano, she placed 4th in combined slalom and downhill.
