After almost perfect weather for the past 10 days, the barometer dropped and the clouds rolled in from Pakistan. With 2 inches of snow at ABC, there was no movement on the mountain. Positions of team members were as follows:

  • Jeff A, Fred, Mike, Jeff R, Jen, Ziggy, Ginger, Jay, John, and Shawn took a rest day at ABC.

  • Drew carried a load from mid-way to ABC, and returned to mid-way to sleep.

  • Greg and Heidi carried loads from mid-way to ABC, and remained at ABC to sleep.

  • Paul and Wayne attempted to do a carry up to the cache at the base of the fixed ropes, but decided to cache the gear at the "shark fin" (a pointed rock on the route) after Paul fell through ice into water up to his thighs.

  • Ivan descended from ABC to mid-way to do a carry tomorrow.

  • Gill descended from mid-way to camel dump, and carried a load back up to mid-way.

  • After 3 continuous days of carrying, Terry took a rest day at mid-way.
