Team News: Wednesday, June 21, 2000 BACK TO: [6-21 DISPATCH] [TEAM NEWS INDEX]
The summer solstice is here, and we got another 4 inches of snow at ABC today. Although we are only about 200 meters shy of reaching Camp 1, the slopes are loaded and a couple of large avalanches swept the route this afternoon. The barometer is still skulking down around 16 in. Hg. It will take a couple of days of sun to consolidate the snow, so it looks like we'll be alternating carrying loads and resting for at least the next few days. The Japanese and Chinese teams are still working on establishing ABC, and we are expecting the fourth team (a four member Mexican-Spanish team) to arrive at the camel dump some time in the next two weeks.
