The summer solstice is here, and we got another 4 inches of snow at ABC today. Although we are only about 200 meters shy of reaching Camp 1, the slopes are loaded and a couple of large avalanches swept the route this afternoon. The barometer is still skulking down around 16 in. Hg. It will take a couple of days of sun to consolidate the snow, so it looks like we'll be alternating carrying loads and resting for at least the next few days.

The Japanese and Chinese teams are still working on establishing ABC, and we are expecting the fourth team (a four member Mexican-Spanish team) to arrive at the camel dump some time in the next two weeks.

  • Shawn, Ziggy, and Paul took a rest day at ABC.

  • Greg and Heidi improved their tent platforms, and settled in at ABC.

  • Ivan and Drew carried loads up from midway to ABC, and remained at ABC to sleep.

  • Terry remained at midway, recovering from a GI tract problem.

  • Gill descended from midway to camel dump, and carried another load up.

  • Jeff A, Fred, Mike, Jeff R, Jen, Ginger, Wayne, John, and Jay decended from ABC to midway, and carried loads up.
