Hi this is Cathy Tibbets calling from Namche Bazaar on day 10 of the acclimatization trek to Gorak Shep. We're beginning to wonder if this year's marathon winner is going to be determined by process of elimination.

Wayne Warren, a 48-year-old British school principal was smashed on the head by a falling rock as he walked out of his lodge yesterday. Strange thing to happen when you're pretty much on the roof of the world. Sean Brown, another Brit, survived a nine day long trek along treacherous trails only to trip and tear a ligament as he was looking at a Namche Bazaar coffee shop. Illness and injuries are holding no one back though. Everyone is heading for higher ground in the morning; even the woman who was bitten by the dog caught up with us.

We spent this morning shoving our way through the Saturday bazaar. There was everything from wild looking men from the Tibetan plateau selling carpets, to locals selling Cokes and Snicker bars. This afternoon we huffed and puffed our way along the last six miles of the race course — pretty tough — and to think this is the lowest point on the race. Over and out.
