(Everest North Face base camp, Tibet)

Today at 7am the temperature was 40F(5'C). During the day it was sunny with small showers in the afternoon for a couple of hours; the temperature did not rise above 65F (21'C).

Today, two Canadian tourists came to visit Everest BC on their travel holiday through TIBET. Two days ago 14 German tourists came to see BC and view EVEREST. The latest news from the tourists is that the road to base camp from Friendship Hwy. turn off is in very bad shape. It is washed out in many places, after big rains at the 15000' and lower elevations. They had to wait two days in one of the villages for the road to be fixed so they could reach BC.

We at BC had a pretty good weather overall. Our Team repacked all the bags so they can be loaded on the YAKS tomorrow morning and we will be on the way to ABC (21500’), where we are going to spend a few days acclimatizing. The trip to ABC will take us two days and it is 22km long. We will gain 4000 vertical feet. The last report from ABC is two feet of snow, very windy and cold. You must wonder if my mind is in right place, to go from good to BAD, but that is what mountaineering is all about, Reaching the NEW HIGHS. It is a never ending challenge.
