Gordon Janow Yak Bells in the Distance
Wed, March 31, 1999 — Phakding, Nepal
CLICK TO HEAR THE CALL:
Hi, this is Gordon calling in from Phakding just above Lukla. We flew in safely this morning and back in the Khumbu, feels wonderful, jingle of the yak bells along the trail. We were fortunate enough to get out on time.

We all got to meet Sir Edmund Hillary, who was at the airport this morning, so that was pretty nice. And we had a pretty nice walk up to camp today. So everybody's doing fine and healthy looking forward to an early morning departure up to Namche as well. And that's about it. We spent most of the day watching a traditional sherpa home being built here in Phakding as well. So that was our entertainment for the afternoon. But looking forward to clear skies and more trekking stories tomorrow. We'll speak to you soon. Bye.

Gordon Janow, Trek Leader
