(Everest North Face Base Camp, Tibet)

Today’s weather news from BC is, as of this morning, the best in three weeks; at 6 am it did not look good, the whole of EVEREST was in black clouds. As of 7:30 am, the sky cleared, the sun came out and everybody from the BRITISH team ran around the camp in shorts like they were on a Mexican beach.

The Japanese climber decided at few minutes ago that he is going to ABC and tonight he will go to Camp #3 SOLO. The SWISS two member team spent the night at Camp #3-NORTH COL.

The weather right now is EXCELLENT on the mountain. The question is- FOR HOW LONG? I am going to ABC today also. I have to be there before the end of the month because JIM BIDWELL, the American climber and cameraman, will be doing some SHOOTING with our large "DVC SONY" camera on the NORTH COL. The camera and second NEC computer, VERSA 6050MX, and satellite "THRANE and THRANE" telephone have been sitting with all the other supplies in the tent for the last several days

Yesterday we had a surprise visit -DAVE BRAESHEER, the well known cinematographer who filmed EVEREST for IMAX last year, came to visit us at BC. He is currently in TIBET doing a film about TREKKING IN TIBET.

Yesterday I was working with the Spanish/CATALONIAN TEAM until 3 am. The problem is their HP computer called it quits and they lost contact with their SPONSORS and CATALONIAN newspapers. My NEC VERSA 6050MX is going strong except I am short on batteries. I helped them with my computer so they can update everyone back in CATALONIA, which is a province in the Northeast of SPAIN. The people in that province do not like to be called "SPANISH". Here, they do not fly a Spanish flag on their tent, but a CATALONIAN flag- horizontal yellow and red stripes.
