Horses doing the work
Curse of Mohammed

Just a quick update on what's up this evening. Your cybercaster has been struck (along with just about everyone else around here) by what has been termed the curse of Mohammad...Not that pleasant but really nothing compared to what some of the competitors are going through.

Michael Trisler, Team Evolution was just airlifted off the course before dark after suffering very, very severe diarrhea and vomiting. When picked up by the rescue helicopter they were concerned his delirious behavior would be a danger on the flight to camp 2; also suffering from dehydration, he is now recovering in the care of the medical team.

"The big question on everyone's lips tonight is when will the Spanish team slow down. With one-and-a-half hours sleep in the last 24 they are definitely pushing the boundaries..."

Event organizer Mark Burnett also expressed concern for Team Kiwi member Anna Keeling who has been very sick now for two days. As one of the strongest women in this event, she said there is no way she will quit. Team Kiwi has now dropped down to 20th place.

The big question on everyone's lips tonight is when will the Spanish team slow down. With one-and-a-half hours sleep in the last 24 they are definitely pushing the boundaries. They have a five hour lead and looking strong the are thought to be making a push to the valley floor tonight in order to be able to begin the 27km horse trek tomorrow.

Several of the other top teams have said the Spanish are merely sprinting and will soon fade at that pace..

We have just heard the choppers are flying for us tomorrow so we will be back with more pics.
